11:38 pm - stirring the waters...
just thought that I would drop a wee post in the water and see if any ripples emerged - since my last post was back in 2008 - what the hell happened there?! Quite a lot going on at the moment, but I will wait and see if there's life on the planet before I expound any further for now.

Over and out.

11:44 pm - The Wanderer Returns...
Just a wee quick one to say... I'm back from the Big ol' U S of A soon, for the foreseeable future. Having a week at home, then hoping to jet off on hiliday somewhere hot for a couple of weeks, so it will be about 3 or 4 before I am back in circulation, but I shall be home soon. You can all begin rejoicing now...

11:13 pm - Book meme thing
The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

* Look at the list and bold those you have read.
* Italicise those you intend to read.
* Underline the books you LOVE.
* Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them ;-)

39 - Not quite able to pip Mr Barrie and his 43, but still fairly respectable I feel. And I do havew to agree about tehre being a few strange choices in there - for example, 'The Five People You Meet in Heaven', but not 'Tuesadays With Morrie', also by Mitch Albom... and whilst I agree that Famous Five or Secret Seven might be an ommision of sorts, I did love the Farawy Tree stories, so can't complain too much! From this, I have concluded that I need to read some more Dickens and possibly Austen, and also finish some books that I have been attmepting to read for many years and still not gotten through!

3:04 pm - jumping on the bandwagon...
as stolen from various people :

Everyone has things they blog about. Everyone has things they don't blog about. Challenge me out of my comfort zone by telling me something I don't blog about, but you'd like to hear about, and I'll write a post about it. Ask for anything: latest movie watched, last book read, political leanings, thoughts on yaoi, favorite type of underwear, graphic techniques, etc. Repost in your own journal so that we can all learn more about each other.

since i never really post about much of anything, i feel that free reign is yours...

3:49 pm - Film reviews
i know that i haven't posted anything in a while, so it's probably bad that it's a film related post but then, real life ones go unremarked anyway, so why worry...

Anyway. Last night on a whim i went to the cinema on my lonesome. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but for a variety of reasons, I ended up seeing 30 Days of night. Now, i'm not a horror movie fan anyway, so alone was just foolish. But aside from the gore and jumpyness, it was just a bad, bad *bad* movie. So I implore you, don't go and see it. Though I feel that most of you have better taste/common sense than to do so anyway.

Having gotten that mini rant out of the way, I have just finished watching Manon De Sources, which is a French film and is in fact the sequel to Jean de Florrette. Rarely am I so moved by a film that I am compelled to wax lyrical about it to other people, certainly not to the point of writing about it in my lj, but honestly, I feel like it was somehow a lifechanging film. They are both very people oriented films (as many french films are) so if you're looking for an actionpacked blockbuster then they're clearly not the films for you, but if you're willing to give something different a try, then go for it...
It's hard to say why it was so compelling, although the storyline is intriguing, and had me almost watching the second film at 2am just to find out what happened.... But overall, it was just the emotional intensity of the film, and I guess the underlying commentary on human nature that got to me. Maybe i'm just in an overly emotional/contemplative state of mind and therefore it struck more of a chord, but honestly, when it finished, I just didn't quite know what to do with myself. So yes, two beautiful, perfect films in my opinion. If you don't like them just don't tell me!

6:12 pm - Hmm, sporadic much?!
i would say that my posting of late has been rather sparse, but that's a blatant lie - for at least a year, it's been downright abysmal. I'm not promising it'll be amazing or anything, but i shall try. I think. Either that or give my account up entirely.

Sp Philip is in Chicago for 10 weeks, working long hours by all accounts. The worst thing about it is the time difference - 6 hours - which means that since he's working till 6, its midnight or no communicatering at all. But never mind The house is slowly but surely getting cleaner and tidier than it's been in a while by dint of having nothing else to do and no boy to make a mess!!

Anyway, i am for gathering projects to keep me busy for the next wee while, so if anybody has any suggestions, then lemme know. Wanting to learn spanish is high up there, but as to how i'm going to go about it, that bit's still undecided...

Otherwise, been in job for a month now, and it's going okay. Some days are productive and professional and some are well, not. But i suspect that most jobs are like that. It's an odd feeling though, getting settled into an office yet knowing that I might not actually be there very much once new projects arrive. Still, nothing for it but to get on with it just now. Big work night out on friday with free bar, salsa dancing and a casino night so hopefully that will be good for giggles. And if not, it's a free bar and an excuse to get dressed up, so it doesn't seem like too dire a situation...

And that's about it. I'm plodding away in my wee house, so if anyone wants to come and visit any time, then you're more than welcome, just gimme a shout.

tis all.

11:59 am - suckyness
Because Stirling uni administrators suck, they have closed my email account without so much as a reminder email that they were going to do so. As a result, I have no access to any of my old mail, and no copy of anybody's email addresses. Therefore, I would be grateful if you could all fire me an email to my hotmail address, or let me know in some other way of a valid email addy for you all. Thankies!

Will post proper stuff in next few days

2:47 pm - Photos
For anyone who is bored, I have uploaded some more photos to my picasa web page. I can't help but feel that the most impressive thing about them is that they were taken using the camera on Phil's phone...

http://picasaweb.google.com/lilgreenfrog

Also, for all of us that like playing with cameras, the 26 Things
list is up for march, and since none of us got to it last month, perhaps we can give this month's a try? No promises cause im crazy busy, but it seems like a good means of stress relief...

One for glinda_penguin specifically, but which others may wish to peruse also...

There is a website here which gives a challenge of 26 things to take a picture of each month - some of them are themes - eg soft. I thought that since you've been on a photo taking kick recently, and im trying to do the same, perhaps we could try the '26 things' for a few months and compare results....

That is all..

Happy V day to one and all!

7:08 pm - Holy Crap! Long post!
Yes, i'm crap at updating. I give up being anything else. The plain truth of it is though that day to day there is nothing worth updating about. However, this week has been a rather more eventful one, so I felt that I would share my general head explodingness with all you lucky lucky people.

However, so i dont piss you all off, i shall be nice and put it behind this cut...Collapse )

Phew! So yes, it has been quite a week (bizarrely, i suspect that there has been yet more happen than all of that, but perhaps my brain is blocking some of it out in self defence - filter feeding me it slowly....)

Rar!

7:35 pm - Creativity
In case anybody is interested, I have recently acquired a Picasa account, and by virtue of its easy uploading from iPhoto, have actually put some photos up on it. Some of you have already had a look I know, but there are some new ones that I took on an adventurous walk to Dunblane that I undertook with my other half lately. I think that some of them are quite cool, and would welcome any opinions and/or comments that y'all would care to share.
That's all for now :)

9:26 am - bah and humbug
it is early. I am uncontionabley tired. i hvae many, many things to do today, some of which will count torwards 20% of my final dissertation grade. These do not seem like a good (there's a better word but ym tired brain wont give me it) set of circumstances in which to get work done.

THat is all.

Conducive! that was the better word - please adjust above sentence to use conducive.

Also, since i know that i've been tagged twice now to do it, my fictional sex partner list shall be up later in the day.
